Q: Do I need to submit a resume?
A: We encourage applicants to submit a resume when applying for an
internship, this helps determine if you qualify for the position.
Though we strongly encourage that you submit a resume, it is not
required. You can copy and paste your resume in the text box located
within the application. Resumes that are mailed or emailed will
not be considered.
Q: When do culinary/pastry internships take place and when
can I begin applying?
A: Culinary/Pastry Internships take place between April and September.
There are potential openings for Culinary Interns in the Fall & Winter
between October-December. Internships are typically posted 3-4 months
prior to the start date of the internship, typically in January.
Q: What happens after I apply?
A: After you apply for a position, your application is screened and
sent to the hiring manager based on if you qualify for the position.
A hiring manager will then contact you directly if you are to be
considered for an interview. If you do not hear back within this
time frame, you may contact the Employee Resource Center by calling
717-520-JOBS(5627) to check the status of your application.
Q: Are there standard qualifications for culinary and pastry
internships?
A: Qualifications vary according to each position. Each internship
requires that you must be at least 18 years of age. For some positions,
enrollment in Vo-Tech Culinary Program will be accepted in lieu
of the age requirement. Please refer to the basic qualifications
section located within the job description, prior to applying.
Q: Are your culinary and pastry internships paid?
A: Yes, both culinary and pastry internships are paid.
Q: What are the typical hours required of A Culinary/pastry
intern?
A: Interns are required to work a variety of hours and shifts as
required by the position. This may include working weekends, evenings
and holidays. To learn about specific working hours for a position,
please refer to the working conditions section located within the
job description.
Q: Do you offer housing to interns?
A: Yes, limited housing is offered to interns. Housing is available
on a first-come first serve basis. In the case that housing cannot
be offered, we can provide you with literature to find affordable
housing within the Central PA region.
